South East Tennessee Tourism
If you're looking for a place to get in on the action or get away from it all, our corner of the state has got a spot for you!

Welcome to the Official Visitor Information Site for Southeast Tennessee.? Whether you're in-town or out, the people of our region exude a certain charm and flavor known throughout the world as 'Southern hospitality.' So, if you're looking for a place to get in on the action or get away from it all, our corner of the state has got a spot for you!

Southeast Tennessee offers visitors the best of both worlds: cities and towns that are filled with attractions and amenities, and a uniquely diverse outdoor world to explore. It is a region well known for its breathtaking beauty and remarkable history. Its mountains, plateaus and valleys teem with natural resources and recreational opportunities. It's also appreciated for its striking contrasts, from small towns, pastoral farmlands, country inns and scenic backroads, to thriving cities on the leading edge of the 'New South.'

The 10 county area outlined in this site provides you an offering of activities and destinations that feature points of interest for the most discriminating traveler. So whether your choice is cruising country roads, exploring Civil War battlefields and Native American culture, enjoying natural splendor in the highlands, touring fine museums and aquariums or enjoying city nightlife - Southeast Tennessee has something for everyone! Chattanooga, the region's capital, is a thriving mid-sized city rich with history, culture and a variety of outdoor activities.

The region itself offers the most diversified flora in North America and features the most diverse aquatic ecosystem and fisheries on the continent. This incredible natural environment is accessible through a number of streams, rivers and lakes and a wide variety of state and national parks and recreation areas. You'll find great hotels, restaurants, museums, parks, shops and a one-of-a-kind aquarium. Smaller cities and townships offer quaint bed-and-breakfast inns and points of interest and feature an old-fashioned character of days gone by. For the adventuresome, there's the heart-stopping leap of faith on a bungee jump, the eye-popping excitement of landing a rainbow trout in the rushing waters of the Hiwasee River and the wide-eyed rush from challenging a rapid on the Ocoee River - and winning. There's cycling, fresh water diving, hunting, rappelling and rollerblading, too.

For others, there's the thrill of watching divers swarmed by residents of the Tennessee Aquarium at feeding time, the satisfaction from a morning of wildlife watching while camped at one of our area's state parks, and the calming effects of a hike through some of the world's most diverse flora and fauna. We have included introductions and links to the variety of outdoor activities you can experience here.
