This building is now home to Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #297, one of the region’s oldest Masonic lodges. The Greek Revival-style building dates to 1860, but its construction was not finished by the time the Civil War began. During the war, the building hosted county meetings to debate secession, and both Confederate and Federal forces used it as a hospital. In 1867, Alfred White, a former slave, finished the building and it opened as a Reconstruction era school.
