Beersheba Inn
Armfield Avenue, Beersheba Springs

Directions: From Monteagle, travel approximately 30 miles north on Hwy. 56 to the small community of Beersheba Springs. After passing the Post Office, turn left onto Armfield Ave.

This stately Greek Revival-style inn was the centerpiece of a rural resort for Southern antebellum elites. Slave trader John Armfield acquired the property in the 1850s and built individual cabin for notables in the Episcopal church, including Bishop and future Confederate Gen. Leonidas Polk. The troops of Col. Nathan B. Forrest passed this way during their approach to the Battle of Murfreesboro in June 1862.
