Church of God Organizational Site
Monroe County Road
631
Overhill, TN

This site is near the Cherokee National Forest with its many recreational opportunities and can be emphasized along with nearby Coker Creek Village ( US 68) to draw additional visitors. In the 1820s gold was discovered in Coker Creek and today visitors to Coker Creek can pan for gold, enjoy a number of recreational activities such as horseback riding, camping, hayrides, etc. An Autumn Gold festival the second week of October draws a large number of visitors each year to experience the beauty of the changing leaves along with foods, arts and crafts of the region. A set of grist mill stones carved by R. G. Spurling is located on the site of the general store and could be highlighted to attract visitors.
