Tomlinson House
Cleveland, TN

Tomlinson House
2525 Gaut Street
Cleveland, TN

This house was purchased by A. J. Tomlinson when he first moved to Cleveland in 1904 and served as his residence until his death in 1943. It is said he was able to get the house for a good price because neighbors believed it was haunted.  This house can be said to be the first “headquarters” of the Church of God and later of the Church of God of Prophecy when the division occurred in 1923.  Current owners are attempting to restore the house much like what it was when the Tomlinson family lived there. The site includes a large concrete marker that tells the story of the house from the perspective of the Church of God of Prophecy and The Church of God ( Charleston , TN ).
