Sustainable/Organic Farms

Have you ever wondered how an organic farm works? About solar powered homes? How we can create a cleaner environment? Visiting one of the southeast’s organic farms just may help answer those questions or make you think about the things perhaps you haven’t looked at before. In an exhausting effort to inform others about being more environmentally conscious, the organic farms in the region have educational experiences that are beneficial to all.

Whether or not you’re an environmentalist, checking out one of these farms is sure to be educational and exciting. For workshops or classes, visit the Sequatchie Valley Institute where you can learn more about sustainable living as well as touring the facility. To pick your own blueberries and strawberries, take a stroll through the Sequatchie Cove Farm where they’ll teach you about their organic practices.

Partnering with SVI, Crabtree Farms is also a main player in the effort to be more environmentally friendly.  Crabtree Farms started the Chattanooga Chapter of Buy Fresh Buy Local which is a break though organization which helps consumers buy the freshest, healthiest foods, from local hard working farmers.  Consumers save money as well as the environment.

With more than a couple farms to chose from there’s enough to keep you busy for a while.
