The Tennessse Valley Railroad Museum is proud to offer a wide variety of rides to suit your needs. For a quick trip, our Missionary Ridge Local takes only 55 minutes, but it packs all sorts of excitement from a ride through a Civil War era tunnel to a guided tour of our restoration shop.
Our Missionary Ridge Local takes you on a 6 mile long round trip from Grand Junction Station to East Chattanooga Depot and back. Departing regularly from Grand Junction, the train takes you along the original right-of-way railroads used to arrive at Chattanooga. Along the way you'll get to experience one of Tennessee's oldest railroad tunnels. Arriveing at East Chattanooga Depot, you'll get to witness how a locomotive is turned around using a turntable and take a tour of our maintenance and restoration shop.
Motive power is either steam or vintage diesel locomotive.
Cost is $14 for adults and $8 for children (ages 3-12).
Directions: Take Interstate 75 to exit 4 (Highway 153). Take Highway 153 to Jersey Pike (Exit 3). It is the fourth exit from I-75, and just past all the car dealerships. At the end of the ramp, turn left and cross over Hwy 153. Just over Hwy 153, turn right onto Cromwell Road. Proceed about 1/3 of a mile and you'll see the Tennessee Valley Railroad sign on the right. Cross the railroad tracks and park in the lower parking lot. You're here!
