The thrill of riding "America's Most Amazing Mile" has delighted guests for a century. As the Incline climbs historic Lookout Mountain, the mountains surrounding Chattanooga and the valley below come alive. The breathtaking grade of the track, 72% near the top, gives the incline the unique distinction of being the world's steepest passenger railway. Enjoy the panoramic view from the Lookout Mountain Station and the Victorian charm of the St. Elmo Station. See the giant gears in motion in the Machine Room. Free parking at the St. Elmo Station.

Hours: The Incline is open year-round and makes 3 to 4 trips per hour. Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Winter operating schedule (December through March) may vary.

Time Required: Approximately 45 minutes one way; 1-1/2 hours round trip. Allow more time in the summer & on holiday weekends.

*Seating on the cars is on a first-come, first-served basis. Standing is also permitted on the cars.

*Limited wheelchair accessibility - With the unique design of the Incline to operate on the steep track, the current cars, made in 1986, are limited in wheelchair accessibility.
