There are four bluegrass festivals nine miles north of the town of Pikeville each year, two at Edmon's Family Farm, and two at the Nine Mile Volunteer Fire Department across the highway in the community of Nine Mile, Tennessee. These festivals draw attendees from the Sequatchie Valley, North Georgia and Alabama, the Knoxville area, and northern Tennessee, and highlight most of the best regional and local bands. The festival grounds are on Highway 128, north of the town of Pikeville, in the farming community of Nine Mile, TN.

The country setting of the June and August festivals at the Edmon's Family Farm cannot be surpassed. The home-cooked food available at the concession stand have the unmistakable Southern touch, and are one of the nicest features of the festival. Other amenities include covered, shaded seating, real toilets and showers, and grass-covered camping spots under the trees by a creek, all at a very reasonable price.

This festival pulls regional level bands both from north and south along the Sequatchie Valley corridor. Bands and numerous talented pickers come from as far away as Livingston, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Bristol, McMinnville, Nashville, and parts unknown. There is usually especially fine jamming in the campground at night, with all the regional and semi-professional players who have converged in this central location to perform on stage during the day. These are typically musicians' (jammers') festivals, with the Edmon's Family Band (Louis, Larry, Gary, and Aberdeen) singing their unmistakable harmony in one corner or another.

The Edmon's Farm Bluegrass Festivals are usually held the second week of May, fourth week of June, second week of August, and the third week of September each year.  (Please call for specific dates each year)

This project was funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
