Nine Mile Volunteer Fire Department Bluegrass Festival
Volunteer Fire Department
Nine Mile, TN
423-533-2659 or 423-553-2526
Second Weekend in May & Third Weekend in September
Admission Fee/CST

These events are held at the Nine Mile Volunteer Fire Department, across the highway from the Edmon's farm at the site of the Volunteer Fire Department Fire Hall and Adjacent Grounds in the Nine Mile community.

The Volunteer Fire Department festivals have covered audience seating, ample camping and parking in a grassy field. There is a small fishing pond, and a covered eating area for the hamburgers and pulled pork barbecue sandwiches available at the concession stand. The two annual VFD Bluegrass Festivals are the only fund-raisers needed by the Nine Mile Volunteer Fire Department, and keep them well-funded throughout the year.

The Edmons Family Festival at the farm and The Fire Hall Festival at Nine Mile give the local and regional bands plenty of time to play. There is fine jamming in the parking lot and camping areas in the evenings.

The 'stars' of this festival come out on 'Channel One' late at night. Look up! The Sequatchie Valley should be added to the national Dark Sky Preserve. In the sky above your camp spot, you can get a spectacular view of the stars and the Milky Way --if the clouds roll away.

This is good family fun. Bring lawn chairs for the audience area, and enjoy the music and home-cooked food.

Suitable for large groups. Bus parking available.
Bring a lawn chair to see the performances in a covered seating area.
Concessions of barbecue, chili and other tasty food available.
In the morning, fresh coffee, and a country breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, biscuits and red-eye gravy will get you up early.

This project was funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
