Altamont, TN
On top of the northwest side of the South Cumberland plateau, Altamont is somewhat isolated from the surrounding area and draws musicians and listeners for whom a drive to Chattanooga or Winchester would be a trek, especially at night. So they make their own fun.
The Altamont City Park jam is located in the city park across from the County Administrative Building in Altamont, TN, on Highway 41. The jam takes place on Saturday evening each week, from Spring to Fall, 7pm-10pm.
Since this is an outdoor event, under a rain shelter but otherwise exposed, it depends on the weather. Often the shelter barbecue is fired up and hot dogs and other grilled food is available. Bluegrass Express, is the host band, and new pickers and listeners are encouraged to come. The music played is typically bluegrass, country, and some old-time.
Suitable for large groups.
Admission is free.
