Contra Dances are usually on Friday or Saturday nights. Times and dates vary. The dance located in the town of Sewanee, location of the University of the South.
Misty Mountain Dancers contra dance on Friday night at the American Legion Hall. The dance proper begins at 8pm (Central Time) with a beginner's workshop starting at 7:30pm. Different bands and different callers are featured each month.
Admission is about $6 for adults and $3 for students.
Directions: From Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville and Atlanta on I-24 to Monteagle/Sewanee Exit, (Exit number 134). Travel West 5.1 miles (but not through the University, proper) to two flashing amber lights. Turn right on University Avenue, go to the American Legion Hall on the right (36 University Avenue, the third building on the right).
