Monteagle VFW Hall
Monteagle, TN

Said to be a rough place to hear music --a little bit of the Wild West in the Tennessee hills--  the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall schedules local country, rockabilly, and bluegrass groups on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year. Run by Bill Taylor, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall is on Highway 41 East, as it begins to descend from the Cumberland Plateau toward Middle Tennessee. It is accessible from Monteagle about 1/5 mile down Highway 41 in Monteagle, across from Papa Ron's Italian Restaurant on Main Street.

Local country acts booked in recent years include Shane Worley, North Alabama/South Pittsburg country singer who has had top Country hits on European Country charts, and aspires to a Nashville career. The new rockabilly band Cumberland Runners gets the crowd going with its exciting versions of rockabilly numbers.

The VFW hall has two pool tables and a big screen TV with cable. They host Super Bowl parties, and feature other sports nights. If not a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, you must sign in as a guest to receive service, but drinks are at very reasonable prices and the service and company are friendly.

Suitable for large groups.
