Chattanooga, TN
Noted for its superb acoustics, Barking Legs puts on some of the most listener-oriented performances in the Chattanooga area. The booking agents of this theater in East Chattanooga seem to either know what is 'hot' or to help to make what is coming up to be the next 'hot' act. Some wonderful new urban-oriented bluegrass acts have been booked for evening performances, including Nickel Creek, Bryan Sutton and Missy Raines, Mark Newton Band, Yonder Mountain String Band, and David Grier. These are the younger true bluegrass, new-grass, and bluegrass-root string bands that turn new audiences on to bluegrass sounds and amaze listeners with the almost unbelievable talent of the young pickers and singers. Venues such as Barking Legs Theater ultimately generate new audiences for traditional groups such as The Del McCoury Band, Larry Sparks, The James King Band, and Bob Paisley, who are also occasionally booked at hip venues of this type.
Also featured are Americana, Roots Music, Blues, and Singer/Songwriter and Composer/Artist performers. A recent performance by multi-instrumentalist composer, Peter Ostrushko, and exceptional guitarist, Arkady Yashin, illustrates the variety of music featured in the theater.
