Wine Over Water is the premier wine-tasting festival in Tennessee. Hosted each year on the Walnut Street Bridge, this event is the main fundraiser for Cornerstones Inc., a non-profit Historic Preservation Organization. This organization, the only one like it in Chattanooga, is dedicated to preserving the architectural heritage and urban fabric of the Scenic City area.
During the event, tents will be lined along the bridge and guests will be able to sample up to 150 different fine wines from around the globe. Regional musicians, ranging from jazz to bluegrass, will play during the festival, giving guests an array of live music to listen to as they sample. Restaurants in the area will also offer a variety of tasting plates guests can purchase.
The 2014 festival will be hosted September, 27 from 5 - 8 p.m. The South Gate will open for check-in at 3:30 p.m. and the North Gate will open at 4:30. Tasting will not begin until 5 p.m., though, in order to ease the flow of traffic on the bridge.
Tickets are available for purchase starting in June and can be bought online, at 212 Market Restaurant, and Foodworks in North Shore. Ticket prices begin at $65 and will increase as the date of the event gets closer. Due to venue space, this event is extremely limited, so get tickets early.
