Formerly the Big 9 Roots Festival, the Bessie Smith Cultural Center is excited to announce their annual music festival with a new name, Bessie Smith’s Big 9 Music Fest.

On Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16, the Bessie Smith Cultural Center will host Bessie Smith’s Big 9 Music Fest along the 200 block of East MLK Boulevard.

R & B artists will be performing throughout the day on Saturday, April 15 12:00pm – 11:00pm on the BlueCross BlueShield of TN Community Foundation Stage located at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center.

Join us for a community celebration of Bessie Smith’s life on her 129th birthday, April 15. Food trucks and local art and merchandise will be on site for purchase.

Sunday, April 16 will be Gospel on the Lawn at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Local gospel groups, quartets, and choirs will perform on the BlueCross BlueShield of TN Community Foundation Stage from 1:00pm – 7:00pm.

Both days are FREE to attend and are family friendly. Acts will be announced soon!
